Job summary

Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) is seeking a Child and Youth Program Leader to provide direct care and instruction to children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years, while mentoring CY Program Assistants and translating training into practice. The role requires guiding staff, coordinating activities, and ensuring safety and compliance within DoD and local policies.

The incumbent works under supervision, with routine tasks performed independently and technical guidance

Qualifications

• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programs for ages 6 weeks to 18 years.
• Knowledge of child and youth development principles, practices, and techniques.
• Skills to apply Federal and State laws governing child abuse prevention.
• Ability to train employees on recognizing childhood illnesses and related issues.
• Ability to develop curriculum outlines and lesson plans/guides.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• One year of experience at the CY-02 level or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and instruction to children and youth (6 weeks–18 years).
• Mentor CY Program Assistants and guide lower-level staff.
• Record observations and chart progress of team members’ on‑the‑job skills.
• Ensure compliance with DoD and local policies and maintain safety.
• Communicate with parents and staff and participate in conferences.
