Job summary

State of North Carolina’s Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Correctional Training Instructor (NS). This role delivers and instructs basic training for certified staff and supports prison officers and probation/parole officers across classifications as needed.

The position requires planning and delivering training, drafting and updating lesson plans, and collaborating with an instructional team using approved materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of directly related instruction and training experience in the subject matter specialty.
• High school diploma with five years of related experience to qualify.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may also qualify.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and instruct blocks of training for COBT, Correctional Officer, Probation/Parole Officer, and/or Instructor Training for NCDAC.
• Draft course plans and objectives, evaluate, update, and create lesson plans and training materials.
• Deliver instruction and collaborate as part of an instructional team, following approved training materials and methodologies.
• Research materials for course development, develop course strategies and objectives, modify course content, and participate in evaluation of courses.
