Job summary

Pima Medical Institute in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Veterinarian (DVM/VMD) Educator and Attending Veterinarian for its Phoenix campus. The role blends classroom instruction with hands-on clinical practice, with standard business hours and no weekends.

You will oversee student education, patient care, and campus animal facilities while maintaining licensure and compliance across AVMA/AZVMEB standards; a comprehensive benefits package is available.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) from an AVMA-accredited institution.
• Active, unencumbered license to practice veterinary medicine in Arizona (AZVMEB); ability to obtain/maintain a DEA registration.
• Minimum of three (3) years of practical occupational experience as a veterinarian.
• Proficient in MS Office and electronic veterinary medical record systems.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Care & Facility Management: Provide medical and surgical care; oversee husbandry and animal welfare.
• Managing Veterinarian: Serve as the managing veterinarian under the program’s state license; maintain DEA registration; oversee controlled substances.
• IACUC & Attending Veterinarian: Participate in IACUC meetings and facility evaluations.
• Regulatory Recordkeeping: Maintain medical records per AZVMEB, AVMA CVTEA, USDA, ABHES; manage orders.
• Instructional Leadership & Student Mentorship: Plan and deliver lectures and labs; assess student skills; manage grades and professionalism.
