Job summary

Work Opportunities Unlimited (WOU) is an ESOP employee-owned organization serving individuals with diverse abilities since 1982. We are hiring for a DSP/Work & Community Support (Career Resource Specialist) to engage individuals in work, recreation, and activities that promote independence in their community.

A typical day includes on-site job support, coaching, and assisting with community activities while traveling locally.

Qualifications

• Experience in high-touch customer service environments is preferred.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Comfortable using MS Office, documenting notes in an electronic system, and accessing apps on a mobile device.

Responsibilities

• Provide long-term, on-site job support for the duration of an individual’s employment.
• Coach and advocate to foster success in the workplace.
• Support participation in volunteer and recreational activities to help develop self-advocacy and independence.
• Engage in daily community-based travel, accompanying individuals to work and community sites (mileage reimbursement provided).

DSP/Work & Community Support (known internally as a Career Resource Specialist)

engage individuals in work, recreation, and other personal activities that promote living a preferred lifestyle in their community. Work & Community Support gives the individual the opportunity to participate in activities that will put them on a path to independence.

A typical day might include the following:

• Provide long-term, on-site, job support for the duration of an individual’s employment
• Serve as their coach and advocate to foster success in the workplace
• Support their participation in volunteer and/or other recreational activities to help develop self-advocacy, independent living and communication skills
• Engage in daily community-based travel, providing transportation as you actively accompany individuals to work, volunteer and community sites to build their path to independence. (mileage reimbursement provided)

Additional requirements include:

• Valid driver’s license and comfortable traveling within your local community
• Monday – Friday, daytime business hours (flexibility offered for part-time)

Pay: $19-$22 per hour
