Job summary

DABS, Inc. provides comprehensive skills training and supported living services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This Direct Support Professional role focuses on supervising individuals, assisting with Activities of Daily Living, and ensuring health and safety in home and community settings. You will supervise medication administration when needed, accompany to appointments, and implement Behavior Support Plans to prevent crises.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of direct support experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Experience with individuals with complex behavioral or mental health needs preferred.
• Proficiency implementing IPP/ISP and BSPs.
• Training in Safety Care or crisis intervention (e.g., CPI) preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, empathy, ethics and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, person-centered supervision within the home and community.
• Supervise and assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, meals, and personal hygiene.
• Supervise medication administration when needed.
• Accompany and/or transport the individual to medical and personal appointments.
• Implement established Behavior Support Plans (BSP) to prevent/outbursts and de-escalate crises.
• Apply crisis prevention techniques to ensure immediate safety.
• Observe and report changes in health, behavior, or environment to the supervisor.
• Complete daily logs and progress notes per DDS/Regional Center standards.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and related activities.
