Job summary

DABS, Inc. in California is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide individualized support to adults with developmental disabilities in Supported Living Services.

You will focus on health and safety, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a stable, respectful living environment. The role requires 2–3 years of relevant experience, background checks, TB clearance, CPR/First Aid, and a valid CA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience providing direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Experience with individuals with complex behavioral or mental health needs preferred.
• Proficiency implementing IPP, ISP and BSPs.
• Prior training in Safety Care or crisis intervention (e.g. CPI) preferred.
• Proactive problem-solving and decision-making prioritizing safety and autonomy.
• Strong ability to document observations and maintain professional relationships.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, person-centered supervision within the home and community.
• Supervise ADLs with occasional hands-on support, including bathing, dressing, meals, hygiene, light housekeeping, and laundry.
• Supervise medication administration when needed.
• Accompany and/or transport the individual to medical and personal appointments.
• Implement Behavior Support Plans (BSP) to prevent and de-escalate episodes.
• Apply crisis prevention/intervention techniques during severe episodes to ensure safety.
• Observe and report changes in health, behavior, and environment to the supervisor.
• Complete daily logs and progress notes per DDS/Regional Center standards.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings as needed.
