Job summary

Top Echelon Software, LLC in Utah is seeking a hands-on Embedded OS Engineer to own the Ubuntu-based Linux firmware stack on our MK2 drone platform (Qualcomm QRB5165). You will build the OS, keep it secure, reliable, and ship it through automated CI/CD pipelines.

This role requires deep work on low-level OS internals, Yocto BitBake, image recipes, and headless hardware. You will debug build pipelines, optimize compile times, and harden the system for production deployments.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience with Yocto/BitBake build system for embedded Linux.
Experience with Ubuntu-based firmware stacks on headless hardware.
Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for embedded firmware builds.
Ability to harden OS images and manage security in embedded environments.
Familiarity with debugging build pipelines and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

Own and maintain the Yocto/BitBake build system and image recipes for the MK2 drone platform.
Create and patch BSPs; produce patched sources without modifying upstream code.
Tune and optimize build performance across Jenkins agents and emulation vs. native builds.
Implement ROOTFS post-processing steps, OS hardening, and patch management.
Maintain system configuration for embedded Linux (systemd, networking) and CI/CD pipelines.
