Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines seeks a driver trainee to safely move and load freight in the yard, using forklifts and hand trucks as needed. You will inspect equipment, document freight conditions, and participate in loading/unloading operations across yard and dock areas.

You must be at least 21, have a valid license, and qualify for the driver trainee program. The role requires reliability, safety focus, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Must be able to participate in the driver trainee program.
• Must be 21 years of age per FMCSA regulations.
• Must have and maintain an acceptable MVR with no disqualifying offenses.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor/trailers and other large equipment for loading/unloading in the yard.
• Cube, load, and unload freight using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, or by hand.
• Secure freight to prevent damage or shifting.
• Record condition of freight upon arrival at the service center.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of yard and dock equipment.
• Set up, break down and hook trailers safely; ensure tilt bars are lowered as required.
• Raise and lower landing gear; monitor yard for unsafe drivers and non-employees.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions; report maintenance issues promptly.
• Attend dock and yard duties; track time using Kronos; maintain regular attendance.
