Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines is seeking a driver trainee to safely maneuver tractors and large equipment in the yard, load and unload freight, and secure cargo for transport. The role requires forklift operation, adherence to FMCSA regulations, and a clean driving and criminal history.

Trainees will join a program after meeting basic prerequisites and reside within the service area. Responsibilities include daily dock and yard operations, safety inspections, and continuous attendance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Must be able to handle duties for the driver trainee program.
• Must be 21 years of age per FMCSA regulations.
• Valid driver’s license with willingness to obtain CDL Learners permit.
• FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse registration and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor/trailers and large equipment for loading/unloading.
• Cube, load, and unload freight using forklift, pallet jack, or by hand.
• Secure freight to prevent damage or shifting.
• Record freight condition upon arrival at service center.
• Perform pre-/post-shift inspections of yard and dock equipment.
