Estes Express Lines is seeking a Driver Trainee in Kutztown, PA. The role involves safely loading/unloading, operating a forklift, and moving freight in outdoor yard conditions.

You will participate in driving school after meeting FMCSA requirements and maintain a valid license and clean MVR. This position requires flexible shifts, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Must be 21 years of age per FMCSA regulations.
• Must have and maintain an acceptable MVR.
• Must have a valid driver's license and willingness to obtain CDL Learner's permit.
• Must reside within 75 miles of the domiciled Service Center.
• Must meet minimum physical qualifications for a driver.
• Ability to operate a forklift (7500 lb. vehicle).
• Must pass FMCSA pre-employment drug screen before attending driving school.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor/trailers and other large equipment to facilitate loading/unloading in the yard.
• Cube, load and unload freight using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck or by hand.
• Brace and secure freight to prevent damage or shifting.
• Record condition of freight on arrival at the service center.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of yard and dock equipment.
• Set up, break down and hook trailers safely; ensure tilt bars lowered before loading.
• Raise and lower landing gear; monitor yard for unsafe drivers and report.
• Work dock a minimum of five hours per week in addition to yard duties as jockey/hostler.
• Scan Kronos clock and indicate dock versus jockey time for tracking.
