Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Driver Trainee to learn tractor-trailer operations and safety on the job. You’ll train toward a Class A CDL in about six months, while earning a training rate and gaining hands-on experience with a Driver Trainer.

Once trained, compensation increases significantly as you contribute to deliveries across our network. From day one, you’ll access medical, dental, vision insurance, and other benefits, plus paid holidays and vacation accrual.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Complete training and receive Class A CDL in 6 months or less.
• Ability and willingness to load/unload and deliver all products as ordered.
• Read, write, and comprehend English for job-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely in accordance with regulations and policies.
• Inspect equipment for defects before/after trips and report results.
• Document receipts, temperatures, and exceptions using the DDH.
• Ride with Driver Trainer to learn regulations, driving techniques and maneuvers.
• Maintain driver logs per DOT rules and assist unloading at customer sites.
