McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Driver Trainee in Norton, OH to learn essential driving functions and gain exposure to warehouse operations as part of the developmental path to becoming a McLane Driver.

The role emphasizes safety, DOT compliance, and hands-on training with opportunities to achieve a Class A CDL in 6 months or less, with day-one benefits and a strong pay growth trajectory after training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Complete training and receive Class A CDL in 6 months or less.
• Ability and willingness to load/unload and/or deliver all products as ordered.
• Stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to accomplish job functions.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product.
• Communicate with customers, management, and teammates.
• Safely drive a tractor-trailer and operate delivery devices.
• Read/write English at a level sufficient for tasks and safety.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely complying with regulations and policies.
• Inspect equipment and submit DOT inspection reports.
• Document deliveries and product temperatures with DDH.
• Ride with Driver Trainer to learn regulations and driving skills.
• Maintain driver logs according to DOT regulations.
• Assist in unloading trailer and delivering products.
• Other duties as assigned.
