Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Manager II to oversee direct driver management for a midsize fleet, ensuring safe, on-time freight movement and high-quality customer service.

The role requires coordinating with drivers, customers, and internal teams while maintaining DOT compliance and company policies. The position demands flexibility across day, night, and weekend shifts to meet demand, optimize routing, and ensure operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Must have 2–3 years of experience in transportation/logistics or equivalent military experience.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends if needed.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience in Microsoft Office suite and data reporting.
• Ability to analyze operations and make data-driven recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and safety teams to minimize turnover.
• Cover for absent personnel and lead special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Train and orient drivers and staff, including customer systems.
• Analyze fleet operations and profitability and report KPIs and customer reports.
• Plan loads and route freight to meet on-time service and customer requirements.
• Manage yard and maintenance coordination to ensure equipment readiness.
• Resolve service issues with drivers and customers as they arise.
• Enforce safety policies and ensure DOT compliance.
• Prepare operational or financial reports as needed.
• Perform payroll, coaching, and documentation duties.
