Job summary

State of Maine seeks a Driver License Examiner in Scarborough (Secretary of State – Bureau of Motor Vehicles) to conduct examinations for Class A, B, C, motorcycle and school bus licenses. This on-site role follows a Mon-Fri schedule with generous benefits and a closing date of October 15, 2026.

The position requires at least two years of public-contact experience and a high school diploma, plus knowledge of Maine motor vehicle laws.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip vehicle evaluations and administer driving skills tests.

• Administer written and oral examinations and explain results.
• Perform vision screenings and issue licenses/IDs.
• Maintain testing equipment and materials in good operating condition.
• Investigate adverse reports and administer related driving tests.
