Job summary

Northwestern Connecticut Transit District is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to lead driver scheduling, communicate requirements, and supervise day-to-day operations. You will coordinate with drivers, customers and management to ensure smooth service delivery and adherence to district policies.

Responsibilities include overseeing dispatch, handling disability applications, conducting safety training, and supporting DOT/FTA compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have S, V, A or F personal passenger endorsement.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical.
• DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits cannabis use.

Responsibilities

• Communicate job requirements and responsibilities to drivers.
• Day to day scheduling, supervision and guidance and submitting evaluation reports to management.
• Managing Monthly Drivers’ schedule.
• Managing driver concerns, reports, logging and reporting to Executive Director.
• Oversee dispatch daily routine and duties.
• Oversee and handle all disability applications.
• Oversee and Logging Form 5 recipients.
• Conduct on-the-scene accident investigations; assist drivers in preparing accident reports, and safety violations documents.
• Develop and host driver training and safety courses as needed; train new drivers and retrain drivers involved in accidents or with recurring violations.
• Observe drivers on the road - correct safety problems on the scene while documenting violations.
• Liaison between both the drivers, customers and the district with customer service concerns.
• Evaluate and monitor driver safety and performance in compliance with district policies and state law.
• Assist The Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director with all DOT/FTA compliances – drug testing.
• Drive routes periodically. Overtime is permitted only when drivers cannot fulfill assignments. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, and overtime as business needs require. Must be willing and able to cover shifts on short notice when operational needs arise.

• Other duties as required.
