Job summary

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the FMC regulations
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer
• Maintain accurate daily logs
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding events including delays, arrivals or equipment problems
• Follow hazmat regulations and placarding requirements as applicable
• Demonstrate customer service with internal and external stakeholders
• Perform freight handling duties when needed using forklift or hand truck
