Qualifications

• CDL or CLP required before entering job classification.
• MVR acceptable based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring ~100 lbs lift, several times a day.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 lbs several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Drive day and night in all weather; exposure to noise, dust, diesel fumes; may vary hours.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight with forklifts and manual equipment.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, arrivals and issues.
• Provide customer service and determine pickup/delivery needs.
• Suggest additional business leads to sales where appropriate.
