Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver associate to operate tractor-trailer combinations, perform safety inspections, and handle freight using forklifts and hand trucks. You will verify paperwork, communicate with Dispatch, and assist customers with pickup or delivery needs.

The role may involve occasional road driving or freight handling duties, with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance with DOT regulations. Starting pay is shown below and benefits are available per policy.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under DOT FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly and operate heavy equipment safely.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to perform vehicle inspections and adhere to safety procedures.
• Experience with forklift and related loading equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and safety checks.
• Hook/unhook trailers and move converters.
• Handle freight with forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Prepare required documents and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and customers regarding pickups and deliveries.
• Assist with sales by identifying additional business opportunities.
• Occasionally perform road driver or freight handler duties as needed.
• Comply with regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
