Job summary

SONIC Drive-In in Illinois seeks a General Manager to lead a fast-paced team and ensure top-tier food service. You will train and supervise Crew, Carhops and management staff, oversee scheduling, inventory, and financial records, and implement customer-focused service strategies.

The role requires a minimum of two years in restaurant management, with knowledge of labor laws and basic accounting. Expect irregular hours, weekends, and a strategic focus on growth and service excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced studies in business or restaurant management preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of restaurant management experience (QSR preferred); experience running shifts without supervision.
• Must work a minimum of 5 days per week with 4 closing shifts (or 4 day week with holidays) including irregular hours, nights and weekends.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing and selection practices.
• Knowledge of federal and state labor laws and local health/sanitation regulations.
• Leadership and supervisory practices; strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic accounting and computer skills.
• Ability to follow directions, multi-task, and solve problems autonomously.
• Willingness to abide by appearance, uniform and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Manages, trains, monitors and coaches Crew/Team members, Carhops and Skating Carhops.
• Directs and assigns drive-in employees to meet operational standards.
• Performs opening and/or closing duties; prepares staff schedules.
• Monitors inventory; places orders within cost controls.
• Maintains payroll and employment records; reports to supervisor.
• Fosters customer-service mindset and resolves guest requests promptly.
• Interviews and hires restaurant staff to achieve proper staffing levels.
• Prepares operational reports and develops action plans to address sales trends.
• Develops and implements marketing plans for the restaurant.
