Job summary

ENGIE North America Inc. is seeking a Water Distribution and Wastewater Compliance Coordinator to oversee campus potable water and wastewater utility systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

  • Valid State Water Distribution Operator License (Grade 3) and Valid Wastewater Operator Certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Utility Management, or related field or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting campus, municipal, utility, industrial, or district energy infrastructure operations.
  • Experience working in a regulated utility or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical, operational, and regulatory requirements and apply them to system operations and maintenance activities.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Operator in Charge for campus drinking water distribution systems, establishing standards for system operations, maintenance, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure the reliable delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water by monitoring system performance, troubleshooting operational issues, and coordinating maintenance and repair activities.
  • Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs for potable water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support system shutdowns, maintenance activities, capital projects, upgrades, and commissioning efforts.
  • Conduct or oversee fire hydrant flushing, fire flow testing, stormwater system maintenance, outfall inspections, and stormwater intake inspections.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including the Safe Drinking Water Act.
  • Partner with ENGIE Environmental Compliance, EHS, and regulatory agencies to support inspections, environmental reporting, stormwater management initiatives, and sustainability programs.
  • Respond to water system emergencies, including main breaks, pressure loss, and water quality events, coordinating response efforts and stakeholder communications.
  • Provide technical guidance to field personnel and campus stakeholders while identifying opportunities to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and cost performance.
