Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator/Leverman to perform dredging and related tasks on the Rudee II. You will operate vessels, pipelines, and heavy equipment to support dredging operations.

Ideal candidates have dredge/boat experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to work in demanding schedules, including overtime. A CDL may be required within a year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (10th grade) plus 5 years of heavy equipment experience.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
• Willing to obtain Class A or B CDL permit within 6 months and full CDL within 1 year.
• Position is safety sensitive with mandatory drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate dredging vessel Rudee II and assist with related equipment.
• Operate skiff, tender, and support vessels; connect/disconnect pipelines.
• Maintain electronic logs, monitor weather and ensure PPE compliance.
