Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach Public Works Department is hiring a Motor Equipment Operator II to perform a variety of duties in Beach Operations-Sandbridge, operating Tractor, Beach Groomer, Loader and other equipment as needed.

Work schedule includes 5:30 am to 2:00 pm, with seasonal seven days a week from April 1 to November 1; CDL required; a $4,000 CDL Hiring Bonus is paid in three installments during the first year of employment.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of the tenth grade, plus two years experience in fields providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate a range of equipment including Tractor, Beach Groomer, Loader, Four-Wheel Drive Beach Truck, Packer Truck, Mad Vacuum, Sweeper, and Skid Steer.
• Clean up litter, trash, and debris on beaches, the boardwalk, and Atlantic Avenue.
• Sand removal and grading; set up and take down for special events.
