Job summary

City of Virginia Beach Public Works Department is seeking a Motor Equipment Operator III/Leverman to operate the dredging vessel Rudee II and related support vessels, performing dredging, pipeline transfers, and equipment maintenance in Rudee Inlet.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of the tenth grade and three years experience operating motor equipment.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
• Commercial Driver's License is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate the dredging vessel and support boats to excavate and transfer material.
• Operate heavy equipment (backhoe, bulldozer, forklift, excavator, crane) in dredging operations.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and maintain logs; ensure PPE usage and safety practices.
