Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking a Drafter to create, revise, and maintain 2D CAD drawings for natural gas distribution and transmission systems. You will collaborate with engineers and designers to translate project details into precise drawings, including P&IDs and isometrics, while updating revisions and managing document control.

The role supports emergency response and after-hours work when needed, with two level tracks depending on experience. An associate degree and GIS familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic understanding of Plant 2D.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Validate driver's license.
• Ability to pass a DOT drug screen.
• At least 1 year of relevant job experience (Drafter 1).
• At least 3 years of relevant job experience (Drafter 2).
• Associates degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Certified Drafter (CD) offered by the ADAA.
• Familiarity with GIS software.
• Basic knowledge of industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Basic understanding of engineering and construction principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering.
• Review plans/specs to prepare drawings.
• Review project docs to prepare drawings.
• Prepare and revise 2D drawings and isometrics in AutoCAD.
• Maintain records of drawing revisions.
• Complete tasks independently with guidance as needed.
• Support emergency outage and after-hours work.
• Drafter 1: apply foundational AutoCAD skills with guidance.
• Drafter 1: use ArcGIS to integrate GIS data.
• Drafter 2: more extensive AutoCAD experience.
• Drafter 2: assist with site survey data.
• Drafter 2: use ArcGIS to support site analysis and routing.
