Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking a Drafter to create, revise, and maintain 2D CAD drawings for natural gas distribution and transmission projects.

You will translate project information into precise drawings, collaborating with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to support new business, public, and maintenance needs. The role offers progression from Drafter 1 (foundational AutoCAD) to Drafter 2 (advanced AutoCAD, site data integration, and GIS support).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic understanding of Plant 2D.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a DOT drug screen.
• 1 year of relevant drafting experience for Drafter 1.
• 3+ years of relevant drafting experience for Drafter 2.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS software.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering staff.
• Review project plans, specifications, and supporting documents to prepare accurate drawings.
• Prepare and revise 2D drawings and schematics in AutoCAD, including P&IDs and isometrics.
• Maintain records of drawing revisions and design changes.
• Complete tasks independently with guidance when needed.
• Support emergency response and after-hours tasks.
