Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking Drafters to create and revise 2D drawings for natural gas pipelines and facilities. You’ll work with engineering teams, translating project details into precise AutoCAD drawings, including P&IDs and isometrics.

Both Drafter 1 and Drafter 2 levels offer progression in AutoCAD proficiency and GIS data integration. Ideal candidates have foundational AutoCAD skills, ArcGIS familiarity, and the ability to work in a team, with DOT drug screening and driver’s license validation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic understanding of Plant 2D.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Validate driver's license.
• Ability to pass a DOT drug screen.
• At least 1 year of relevant job experience for Drafter 1.
• Foundational AutoCAD experience to create/revise 2D drawings.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS software.
• At least 3 years of relevant job experience for Drafter 2.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD with independent drafting tasks and design changes.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering.
• Review project plans, specifications, and supporting documents to prepare accurate drawings.
• Review project plans, specifications, and supporting documents to prepare accurate drawings.
• Prepare and revise 2D technical drawings and schematics in AutoCAD, including P&IDs and isometrics.
• Maintain accurate records of drawing revisions and design changes.
• Complete assigned tasks independently, seeking guidance from designers and engineering teams as needed.
• Support engineering and operations teams during emergencies and other business needs, including emergency outage management and after-hours support as needed.
• Apply foundational AutoCAD skills to Drafter 1 drawings with guidance from designers.
• Use ArcGIS to integrate GIS data for project footprint (Drafter 1).
• Apply more extensive AutoCAD experience for Drafter 2 with greater independence.
• Assist with integrating site survey data and GIS data for site analysis and route decisions (Drafter 2).
