Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy machines at a recycling center, landfill, or transfer station.

This role focuses on transferring, spreading, covering, loading, and compacting waste or soil efficiently while adhering to safety standards. Key duties include pre/post inspections, operating equipment ( forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader ), monitoring waste quality, performing minor maintenance, and completing reports.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment to ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean.
• Safely and efficiently operate equipment that may include forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment using proper safety standards.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
• Monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready to minimize downtime; clean tracks or wheels as needed.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment; refer major issues to Maintenance Shop for repair.
• Complete Equipment Condition Report and other reports; report repairs to supervisor as needed.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure shop is clean, serviced and stored at end of shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
