Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate equipment at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station. The role includes transferring, spreading, covering, loading and compacting waste or soil efficiently and safely.

The position requires inspecting equipment, adhering to safety policies, and keeping the shop and equipment in good condition. Relevant experience with heavy machinery and OSHA-site work is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of related experience with heavy equipment operation.
• Experience working at sites regulated by OSHA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of equipment to ensure clean windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera.
• Safely operate heavy equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other machinery using proper safety standards.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
• Keep equipment operationally ready and clean wheels/tracks; report repairs as needed.
• Document minor servicing and report major issues to Maintenance Shop.
