Job summary

Weisiger Group, a long-standing family-owned equipment provider based in Charlotte, NC, seeks a DOT Safety Specialist to oversee the Fleet Driver Program, ensure FMCSA compliance, and drive safety initiatives across the organization.

You will monitor telematics, review driver qualifications, coordinate training, and lead incident reviews, with close collaboration with the Fleet Department and EHS team to protect employees and the company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience, or 4+ years of dedicated Fleet Safety and DOT compliance.
• Direct experience with telematics and video monitoring platforms (GeoTab, etc).
• NATMI certification or similar DOT compliance credentials preferred.
• Active CDL is highly preferred.
• General EHS experience or knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce proactive Fleet Safety policies and health and safety plans.
• Evaluate and audit driver program elements to verify CMV qualifications.
• Maintain and audit Driver Qualification Files per 49 CFR regulations.
• Manage end-to-end driver onboarding, training, and MVR evaluation.
• Monitor telematics and video events for safety issues and conduct coaching as needed.
• Oversee Hours of Service compliance and ELD data accuracy.
• Prepare driver logs and documentation for DOT audits and inspections.
• Coordinate with Fleet Department on safety-related repairs.
