Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Detroit is seeking a Donation Processing Associate to greet donors, process donations, and maintain a clean donation area while supporting mission-driven programs.

This part-time role requires a high school diploma or current pursuit, strong English communication, basic computer and math skills, and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Paid training and opportunities to build retail and customer service skills are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or currently pursuing.
• Strong English communication skills for donor and team interactions.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background check.
• Must be available for a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Greet donors and provide donor assistance.
• Process and track donations accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized donation area.
• Sort, load, and unload Salvation Army trucks as required.
• Assist with production processes as needed.
• Safeguard donated materials and equipment.
• Report complaints, damage, or injuries in the donation area.
• Guide donors on acceptable materials and pickup options for heavy items.
