Job summary

The Blood Connection, Incorporated in Suffolk, VA is seeking a Phlebotomist to screen and collect whole blood from donors in accordance with SOPs and regulatory standards. This role also collects automated red blood cells and plasma using automated systems and conducts post-phlebotomy care.

You will perform donor health assessments, venipuncture, and thorough documentation while ensuring donor comfort and safety. Some weekend hours and potential shift changes on short notice are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• National Phlebotomy certification preferred or two+ years of Phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Screen donors through medical history and testing results.
• Perform venipuncture on eligible donors.
• Set up and prime automated collection system for automated procedures.
• Conduct donor health history and physical assessment per SOPs.
• Provide post-phlebotomy care and documentation for donor reactions.
• Maintain accuracy of run sheets, QC sheets, and equipment logs.
