Job summary

Goodwill Houston is seeking a Distribution Specialist to support daily warehouse operations, including processing donated goods, breaking down orders, and maintaining inventory accuracy. The role requires safe handling of materials, equipment operation, and adherence to safety standards.

The position involves coordinating distribution plans, assisting with truck loading/unloading, and ensuring efficient movement of new and donated goods within the warehouse.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Warehouse experience preferred.
• Forklift certification required; prior forklift experience preferred.
• Salvage tracking and reporting proficiency.
• Knowledge of loading techniques for salvage load types preferred.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery and monitor indicators for safe operation.
• Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, GPS, and other applications).
• Flexible schedule including nights and weekends as needed.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process products efficiently based on Goodwill Houston's needs and adapt to changes in commodities processing.
• Break down orders, secure equipment, and label for transport.
• Maintain backroom organization and accurate inventory of new goods.
• Set up and follow distribution plans.
• Move donated goods between storage, production areas, and loading areas; assist with loading/unloading trucks.
• Receive vendor shipments and confirm accuracy against manifests; communicate discrepancies.
• Receive large corporate donations and break down, price, and distribute goods.
• Operate material handling equipment safely per regulations and safety policies.
• Perform janitorial duties and ensure safe work conditions.
• Report equipment repairs or maintenance to the Dock Manager promptly.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
