Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington seeks donation attendants to represent the organization and assist donors with household items. You will greet donors, unload donations, record items, and maintain a safe, clean donation area in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role requires physical stamina, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and strong customer service skills. Prior forklift or pallet handling experience is a plus, with opportunities for growth and benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service roles.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instructions in English.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move donations.
• Ability to safely operate equipment as required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Multilingual with proficiency in English is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service to all guests.
• Greets donors and safely unloads donations from vehicles.
• Records donations accurately.
• Lifts and moves donations up to 50 pounds.
• Operates equipment safely as required by location.
• Keeps donation area clean and free of debris.
• Completes donor receipts and provides copies.
• Sorts donated items into designated categories.
• Follows safety and security practices and reports hazards.
• Maintains a clean, neat uniform and appearance.
• Assists truck and driver helper with loading/unloading donations.
• Performs general housekeeping and other duties as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. 1. Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external guests.
2. 2. Creates a welcoming atmosphere by greeting donors and safely unloading donations from vehicles.
3. 3. Accurately record donations.
4. 4. Ability to independently lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
5. 5. Ability to safely operate manual and or power equipment (depending on location).
6. 6. Responsible for keeping donation area clean and free of debris.
7. 7. Completes donor receipts and offers the donor a copy.
8. 8. Sorts donated items into designated categories.
9. 9. Follows prescribed safety and security practices including reporting safety, security hazards and injuries to the General Manager, Store Manager, or Assistant Manager.
10. 10. Maintains a clean, neat uniform and appearance.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1. 1. Assists truck and driver helper load/unload donations into company vehicles.
2. 2. Performs general housekeeping duties as needed.
3. 3. Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1. 1. Previous customer service experience.
2. 2. Ability to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
3. 3. Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instruction in English for safety purposes and communication with management.
4. 4. Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
5. 5. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling and climbing for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours – per 8 hour shift).
6. 6. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.

Preferred Qualifications

1. 1. A minimum of six months of previous work experience.
2. 2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. 3. Ability to work in a team environment.
4. 4. Previous experience working in a warehouse environment.
5. 5. Previous pallet packing and forklift experience.
6. 6. Basic computer skills.
7. 7. Multilingual with proficiency in English.
