Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is hiring donation attendants to greet donors, unload donations, and provide exceptional service in a dynamic retail environment.

You will record donations, sort items, and ensure safety and cleanliness while lifting up to 50 pounds. The role supports our community impact and includes a benefits package with pay options and discounts.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service experience.
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instructions in English for safety and communication.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external guests.
• Greet donors and safely unload donations from vehicles.
• Accurately record donations.
• Lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
• Safely operate manual and/or power equipment (as location permits).
• Keep donation area clean and free of debris.
• Complete donor receipts and provide a copy.
• Sort donated items into designated categories.
• Follow safety and security practices and report hazards.
• Maintain clean, neat uniform and appearance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• 1. Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external guests.
• 2. Creates a welcoming atmosphere by greeting donors and safely unloading donations from vehicles.
• 3. Accurately record donations.
• 4. Ability to independently lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
• 5. Ability to safely operate manual and or power equipment (depending on location).
• 6. Responsible for keeping donation area clean and free of debris.
• 7. Completes donor receipts and offers the donor a copy.
• 8. Sorts donated items into designated categories.
• 9. Follows prescribed safety and security practices including reporting safety, security hazards and injuries to the General Manager, Store Manager, or Assistant Manager.
• 10. Maintains a clean, neat uniform and appearance.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• 1. Assists truck and driver helper load/unload donations into company vehicles.
• 2. Performs general housekeeping duties as needed.
• 3. Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 1. Previous customer service experience.
• 2. Ability to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
• 3. Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instruction in English for safety purposes and communication with management.
• 4. Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
• 5. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling and climbing for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours – per 8 hour shift)
• 6. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1. A minimum of six months of previous work experience.
• 2. High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3. Ability to work in a team environment.
• 4. Previous experience working in a warehouse environment.
• 5. Previous pallet packing and forklift experience.
• 6. Basic computer skills.7. Multilingual with proficiency in English.
