Job summary

3M is seeking a Business Development Manager for the Department of Energy & Industrial Base in Washington, DC. You will lead 3M’s engagement with DOE, shaping demand for our materials and programs before requirements are written and converting early influence into funded work.

You will build relationships with NNSA, DOE offices, national laboratories, and M&O contractors, manage an opportunity pipeline in Salesforce, and deliver executive briefings and proposals to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
• Five years of experience with or engaging Department of Energy organizations, NNSA, national laboratories, or the nuclear supply chain.
• Named, current relationships within NNSA/DOE program offices, national laboratories, or M&O contractor community within the last three years.
• Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. DoD or DoE security clearance at the Secret level.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute 3M’s Department of Energy engagement strategy across NNSA, DOE offices, and national laboratories.
• Win funded programs by positioning 3M materials and capabilities into programs of record and funded production.
• Shape requirements and supply-chain policy with national labs, program offices, and industry consortia.
• Advise on federal instruments (DPA Title III, IBAS, DFBC) and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Translate customer requirements into actionable internal strategy across a matrixed organization.
• Maintain a disciplined Salesforce CRM pipeline to provide leadership with funded vs unfunded demand insights.
