Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Dock Supervisor to oversee shift operations, ensuring safety and efficiency in our freight network. You’ll supervise dock teams, schedule work, and coordinate with managers to meet daily goals while using OD’s technology systems to monitor shipments.

The role emphasizes safety compliance, training, and continuous improvement across the shift and facility, with opportunities for growth within a national carrier.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2 years of operating experience in transportation is preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS and BLU systems.
• Knowledge of general DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily safety of employees.
• Oversee safe loading/unloading of freight.
• Teach and enforce safe lifting techniques.
• Maintain shift housekeeping for safety and productivity.
• Supervise dock employees and manage schedules.
• Coordinate with managers to meet business objectives.
• Provide analyses and improvements for shift operations.
• Address performance, safety, and compliance issues.
