Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line seeks a Dock Supervisor to oversee shift operations, ensure safety, and drive efficiency across the freight network. You will supervise dock staff, manage schedules, and use OD’s systems to monitor shipments while communicating with associates and customers throughout the day.

The role emphasizes leadership, safety compliance (OSHA/DOT), and continuous improvement, with opportunities for growth within a long-standing national carrier.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent required; some college preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant supervisory experience valued.
• 2 years of operations experience in transportation or similar field preferred.
• Working knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS and BLU systems.
• Knowledge of general DOT regulations; strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate safety of each employee daily.
• Oversee safe and efficient loading/unloading of freight.
• Teach safe lifting techniques and ensure housekeeping standards.
• Manage dock work schedules and supervise dock employees.
• Coordinate with Operations Manager to meet daily/weekly objectives.
• Provide feedback on productivity metrics and operational improvements.
