Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Dock Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensuring safety and driving efficiency across the freight network. This role manages shifts, uses OD’s technology, and communicates with associates, customers, and team members.

The position requires supervising dock staff, maintaining safety compliance, and meeting performance targets in a high-volume service center environment.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent; some college preferred.
• 2 years working operations experience, supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS and BLU systems.
• Knowledge of general DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate the safety of each employee on a daily basis.
• Monitor and evaluate the safe and efficient loading and unloading process of freight throughout the shift.
• Monitors, evaluates, and teaches employees safe lifting techniques and uses safe lifting as needed.
• Monitor and maintain housekeeping within the shift to ensure safety and productivity.
• Manages, assigns and supervises dock employees to ensure proper utilization of employees, equipment, loading and unloading.
• Manages all dock work schedules and time off requests.
• Provide analyses, suggestions and ideas for improvement of operations within the shift, department and facility.
