Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Dock Supervisor to oversee daily dock operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to OD standards. The role involves supervising teams, using OD’s technology, and maintaining high performance in a large freight network.

Responsibilities include safety monitoring, scheduling, coordinating with management, and driving continuous improvement while supporting a culture of trust and teamwork within the OD family.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2 years working operations experience, preferably in transportation.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS and BLU systems.
• Knowledge of general DOT regulations.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate the safety of each employee on a daily basis.
• Monitor and evaluate the safe and efficient loading and unloading process of freight throughout the shift.
• Teach safe lifting techniques and enforce safety measures as needed.
• Maintain housekeeping within the shift to ensure safety and productivity.
• Manage dock staff, assign workloads, and ensure efficient use of equipment.
• Oversee dock work schedules and time off requests.
• Coordinate with Operations Manager and Service Center Manager to meet objectives.
• Provide analyses and ideas for operational improvements.
