Job summary

Forward Air Corporation is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight in a multimodal terminal or warehouse. This onsite role runs Monday through Friday from 1pm to 9pm, supporting dock operations in the Harrisburg area.

Operators will use sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, scan and track cargo, assist drivers, and help maintain a clean, safe dock environment while following all safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required.
• 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience.
• English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to read labels and barcodes and perform basic arithmetic.
• Must be able to learn handheld scanners and basic computer systems.
• Ability to operate MHE such as pallet jacks, dollies, and forklifts.
• Regular attendance and ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and trailers.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading per safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight with handheld devices.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues promptly.
• Maintain dock safety, cleanliness, and organization.
• Follow safety policies, OSHA requirements, and PPE standards.
• Train and mentor other Material Handlers as needed.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
