Job summary

Forward Air Corporation is seeking an experienced Forklift Operator for an onsite shift. You will load, unload, and move freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, ensuring accuracy and safety across a multimodal terminal or warehouse environment.

The role emphasizes mentoring newer Material Handlers, strict adherence to safety and OSHA standards, and documentation accuracy. Candidates must have forklift certification and a minimum of 3 years dock experience, with ability to work

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs without assistance, up to 75lbs with assistance or mechanical aids.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and trailers.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight with handheld devices and systems.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and comply with PPE standards.
• Support dock productivity and workflow efficiency.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
