Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area, load to trailers, and perform hostling duties as needed. Starting pay is $21.16 per hour, with shift from 1600 to 2000.

The role involves operating forklifts, securing cargo, and ensuring accurate freight documentation in a fast-paced dock environment. Applicants should be at least 18 years old with preference given to those with warehousing or forklift experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing/freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry freight up to ~100 lb, or trailer doors with ~75 lb lift, several times daily.

Responsibilities

• Operate motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazards).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
