Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading. The role requires operating a forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck to move freight while ensuring accurate verification of type, weight, and documentation.

Key duties include securing freight inside trailers, repairing damaged freight when needed, completing reports, assisting customers with freight documentation, and performing hostling duties if required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, and lift dock plates up to ~100 pounds, with occasional 75 pounds of lift force.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck to move freight.
• Verify documentation matches freight description and weight.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets and straps.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with all laws/regulations and company policies.
