Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight between dock areas and trailers for loading. Starting rate is $21.16 per hour, with an evening shift from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

The role involves using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move freight safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include verifying freight documentation, securing loads, repairing damaged freight when needed, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or fork lift operations preferred.
• Experience with hostler/yard mule duties preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, and lift dock plates up to ~100 pounds, and open trailer doors requiring ~75 pounds of lift force.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Verify documentation matches freight description.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
