Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Dockworker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading and unloading. Starting rate of pay is $21.16 per hour with a shift from 0400 to 0900.

You will operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck; verify freight documentation; secure freight inside trailers; assist customers with freight and documentation; and perform hostling duties if required. You may lift up to 100 pounds in a fast-paced dock environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, up to ~100 pounds.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Perform freight handling using equipment including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
