Job summary

FedEx Freight in Buford, GA is seeking a warehouse freight handler to move freight across the dock and between trailers, operating forklifts and pallet jacks for loading and unloading. The starting rate is $21.16 per hour with a shift from 04:00 to 11:00.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week and to open trailer doors requiring substantial lift.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials) using current systems.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
