Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock associate to transport freight across the dock and load to trailers. You will operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, verify freight docs, and secure loads for transit. Candidates should have warehousing experience, basic math, and strong teamwork.

The role requires 18+ years old, basic communication skills, and the ability to lift heavy loads daily. Training on safety procedures and company policies will be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations preferred
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times per week
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers
• Perform freight handling using equipment including forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck
• Verify documentation matches freight description using current system
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or rope
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed
• Perform hostling duties if required
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies
• Perform other duties as required
