Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc is seeking personnel to transport freight across dock areas and load trailers. The role uses forklift, pallet jack and hand truck to move goods and verify freight documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and open trailer doors with lift forces as described.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, and move freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading.
• Operate motorized and manual equipment including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description using current systems.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
