Job summary

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge, MA seeks a DMPK Scientist to design and interpret ADME and PK/PD studies for siRNA and other modalities, applying quantitative pharmacology to guide candidate selection and human dose predictions.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, chemical or biomedical engineering or related quantitative discipline with 0+ years of relevant experience; or exceptional non-PhD with 5+ years (Masters) or 10+ years (Bachelors) in DMPK or quantitative pharmacology.
  • Strong foundation in quantitative pharmacology and PK/PD modeling, with hands-on experience in non-compartmental and compartmental data analysis.
  • Exposure to PBPK, population PK, or systems/mechanistic pharmacology modeling is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency with modeling, simulation, and programming tools (Phoenix WinNonlin, Monolix, R).
  • Solid understanding of ADME principles and the drug discovery and development process; knowledge of oligonucleotide therapeutics (siRNA/ASO) or other novel modalities is a plus.
  • Demonstrates problem solving ability and adaptability, in and out of comfort zone.
  • Detail-oriented with organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support DMPK strategy across drug discovery and development by designing, executing, and interpreting in vitro and in vivo ADME and PK/PD studies for siRNA and other modalities.
  • Apply quantitative pharmacology approaches including non-compartmental analysis, compartmental PK/PD, PBPK, and mechanistic/systems modeling to characterize drug disposition and exposure–response.
  • Integrate PK, PD, and biomarker data to inform candidate selection, human dose projection, and first-in-human dose predictions.
  • Build, qualify, and document models and simulations using Phoenix WinNonlin, Monolix, R and related tools.
  • Contribute to preclinical and translational study designs to support progression from discovery through clinical development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze data and communicate quantitative pharmacology insights.
  • Prepare analyses, reports, and presentations; contribute to regulatory submissions as needed.
  • Complete projects in a timely and high-quality manner while maintaining scientific rigor.
