Job summary

City of San José’s Information Technology Department seeks an exceptional senior manager to lead the City Project Management Office (PMO) as Division Manager. The PMO oversees a broad portfolio across city departments and drives value from technology initiatives.

The Division Manager will lead a team of ~8, manage 75+ initiatives and 40+ systems, and partner with the CIO to advance governance, strategy, and delivery of high-impact digital services for residents and city staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a closely related field is required.
• Six years of progressively responsible related experience, including three years of supervisory experience, is expected.

Responsibilities

• Oversee approximately 8 contributors and a portfolio of 75+ initiatives across 20 departments.
• Manage 40+ primary systems and ensure lifecycle management and delivery of projects.
• Develop strategic plans, budgets, architectures, and roadmaps to support city services.
• Hire, coach, and develop staff; prioritize work through scrums, staff planning, and OKRs.
• Partner with executive leadership to align initiatives with city priorities and achieve value.
• Apply governance processes to maintain stakeholder support and avoid programmatic risks.
• Foster a collaborative, customer-centric culture and deliver high-impact digital services.
